King Alexander persecuted you, Josip Broz persecuted you, today the Germans, led by some of our “experts”, are persecuting you.
Terrible ignorance, fear of knowledge, and total disinterest. The Germans said so!!!
You, Micic; You, Petrov; You, Stepancic; You, Jocic; as well as many of You, who stepped deep into the second half of the 20th century. Who wrote about the period when you were creating anything while you were alive? Who visited you and asked what you did from 1920 to 1970?
If it weren’t for Zoran Markuš and Your death, after which Your belongings were transferred first to the Municipality, and then to the National Museum because it was thought that you had no heirs, all that would drag on at flea markets.
A lot of art objects that you gave to Zoran Markuš testify to the trust you had in him.
Zoran Markuš, the only man who understood the significance of your work. The man to whom you gave your thoughts and story about your life and work.
The doctoral dissertation that Markuš dedicated to Zenitism was not accepted. It was such a time. But the lawsuit he filed in court because it was stolen in its entirety did not get an epilogue. Death in the middle of the trial prevented him from proving his claims. Mrs. Olivera Sbutega, born sister of Zoran Markuš, deeply unhappy because of the injustice inflicted on her brother, published the book Zoran Markuš ZENITISM.
As I said, a large number of writers and artists gathered around Micic and the Zenit idea were alive until 1960-1970. years. They were never interested. All the events took place in that narrow circle. The Avant-garde simply did not gather the wider masses. Several modest exhibitions, performances, and newspaper articles. Persecuted and misunderstood imprisoned in a narrow circle. Works printed in circulations of 100 to 150 pieces mostly circulated among themselves. They had no one to sell them to. The fact that after Micic’s death, several hundred magazines Zenit, Svetokret, etc. arrived at the National Museum. goes in favor of that. This also applies to paintings, collages, watercolors, graphics, drawings, etc. Nobody just bought it. These are all works that reflect the state of mind, the mutual relations of political views. So a little interesting to the wider masses, and therefore non-commercial. And of course, as it happens, it remained in the attics and basements to wait for the merchants and collectors who were the only ones who understood the significance of all that. If museologists had asked themselves, everything would still rot and decay. No one from various museums in Serbia was interested in visiting those families and asking if there was anything interesting. Especially the actors themselves while they were still alive. In all that laziness and impartiality, someone wrote that none of them created anything. This was accepted by the Resava school and many wrote volumes and volumes of the same books.
The Germans accepted what they all wrote. And then, according to all of them, the Serbian Vanguard does not exist. Several Serbian INQUISITORS (self-lovers) destroyed a world-significant part of Serbian creators. A part of art history that is envied by everyone in the world. “Because we still haven’t gotten out of our peasant shoes.”
